Info About ALDI Stores Australia & ALDI Stores Australia Store
Aldi is an international supermarket chain based in Germany.
History
Aldi was established by Karl and Theo Albrecht in 1946 when the brothers decided to take over their mother's store. Today they have more than 10,000 stores in over 20 different countries.
In the 1960s, the company's founders went through a fall out regarding the sales of cigarettes in store and hence split into Aldi Nord and Aldi Süd. These have been legally and financially two separate entities ever since. As of 2015, the founders were the first and second richest people in Germany respectively.
Aldi was historically known to be low quality, cheap supermarket but they soon offset that name tag by being awarded the best supermarket in the UK, US and Australia for multiple years in a row.
Ethics
Aldi is a consumer-oriented company, although this doesn't stop them from being environmentally responsible. Throughout history, they have been one of the only supermarket chains to have never offered free plastic bags to the customers, forcing them to purchase plastic bags if necessary.
They are also one of the rare stores that recycle all the waste products from their stores, including plastics and batteries. Surprisingly enough, Aldi has also banned the use of artificial colouring in products throughout their stores and has a commitment to serving only cage-free eggs, along with the highest grade of meat according to national regulations in every country they operate in.
Products
Aldi offers local shipping on all of its local website, although regrettably there's no worldwide international shipping due to the perishable nature of their products.
Their products include everything from clothing, to cosmetics, to groceries. Aldi specialises in sourcing only the best meat, vegetables and fruits for their supermarkets.
