Inception
Established in 1993, A Bathing Ape can be considered the ‘new kid on the block”, what with just a bit over 15 years of experience in the designing industry. It was actually started by Nigo who wanted to provide the latest hip collection to the young elite of Japan.
Collaborations
What started as a local brand has now become a global sensation thanks to the in-touch designs and collaborations with and the patronage of some big names in the pop industry. Nigo initially collaborated with Pharell to bring out the lines Icecream and Billionaire Boys Club, which helped put him and his company on the map. Later he collaborated with more big names from the pop industry, including Kanye West.
Limited designs
Right from the beginning, A Bathing Ape is known for its limited designs. It was said that its creators hated repetition, which is why new collections were released on a regular basis and limited stock is the brand’s characteristic.
