The founders had a bigger purpose than just providing another gimmickry in cycle locks. Daniel and Yves wanted a feasible solution to the real problem where each year, 1.5 mn bicycles get stolen. The research suggested that 1 out of 5 bicyclists stopped riding after a severe theft in the US as of 2016. Then it leads to an increased usage of other vehicles leading to traffic jams and pollution. All in all, the health of the human body was at risk. All summed up as frustration and Skunklock came into existence.
