Target is a mid-range retail store currently owned and operated by the Wesfarmers group of companies. They are Australia's largest retail store when it comes to the number of branches and has over 300 branches throughout Australia.
History
Established in 1926 by George Lindsay and Alex McKenzie, Target has its humble beginnings as a store for fabrics and bedding materials. In 2007, Target was acquired by Wesfarmers as an alternative to their Kmart. Target is intended to be a higher class, upmarket kind of store when compared to Kmart and it's more department store appeal.
Morals
Target is one of the few retailers with an environmentally conscious approach to sales and delivery. They aim to utilize only eco-friendly raw materials as well try to minimize their carbon footprint in their stores with the help of solar energy and recyclable materials.
In 2009, Target also stopped giving out free plastic bags to their customers although this decision was soon reverted after an uprising from the community.
Products
Target offers worldwide international shipping on a select few products and has rather admirable returns and exchange policies.
They categorize products depending on its use and who is meant for, with categories such as products for men, women, kids as well as home, sport and entertainment products. Target also has separate sections for toys and beauty care products.
For men and women, Target offers all kinds of branded clothing from sweatshirts, to hoodies, to jeans and also underwear and lingerie. When it comes to kids, they have a similarly large collection of clothing products.
In the case of home products, the list is endless with everything from lighting to flooring and appliances to top it all off. They have specific products meant for each of the rooms in a house, along with products meant for pets and their care.
