Westfield is a retail chain of stores in Australia dealing in consumer products.
History
Westfield began in 1960, and their name was basically a description of their first centre, “west” referring to West Sydney and “field” referring to the farmland they were situated on. Soon after, the company went public and much to the joy of the investors, Westfield put up stunning income numbers in the first year they went public, amassing over $800,000 in revenue.
In 1977, Westfield decided to expand into the US and rapidly set up stores in California, Michigan and New York among other cities. The company was also one of the companies to receive an insurance payout after the attack on the twin towers in September 2003.
In 2014, the company split into two due to personal issues among the founders and became the Scentre group and the Westfield corporation.
Services
The Westfield group maintains 103 shopping centres worldwide in countries like Brazil, Italy and Croatia apart from Australia, New Zealand and the USA. Excluding the consumer-oriented sales business, the multinational company has several other portfolios such as construction, design, development, finance and property management.
Their 103 stores consist in total of over 20,000 retail outlets, to the tune of over $60 billion in total assets.
Products
Westfield, unfortunately, does not provide worldwide international shipping on their website, in fact, they do not have an online store, rather just an online catalogue of products.
Their products are generally put into products for men, women, kids, books, home appliances, electronics brand much more. They generally manufacture most of their clothing products in-house, but also have several brand names associated with them.
Apart from the usual consumer products, they also offer sporting goods along the lines of shoes, protective gear, cycles and accessories such as bags, water bottles, hiking equipment and more.
